Ramps
Ramps are used for so many purposes to make our lives easier. Explore all the different ways we use ramps in our everyday lives.
Does it Roll?
Does it Roll?
Children can explore physics with this simple activity. Gather some items you have in your classroom and set up a ramp using a flat board or book.
Instruct the children to try to roll each item down the ramp and see if it rolls or slides.
Table Bowling
Table Bowling
We used some giant blocks to make a barrier on the table, then added a ramp and let the kids take turns trying to roll some cars into the goals. You can alter the activity to have the kids knock down cups or bowling pins, or use different things to roll down the ramp.
Ramps BINGO
Ramps BINGO
Have fun learning about ramps with this bingo game. Introduce children to some new vocabulary and images that helps them identify where ramps exist in our everyday world.
Ramp Exploration
Ramp Exploration
During circle time, you can play a game where every child gets a chance to roll an item from the classroom down a ramp. For this we used a book, but you can use a board or any other flat object to make a ramp. Every student picked a random item from the classroom to test, and they had a blast seeing their objects roll or slide. Pairs well with the Does it Roll activity.
Ramp Exploration in Block Center
Ramp Exploration in Block Center
What better way for kids to explore science then let them explore on their own. Set up a board in your block center and let them roll and slide all sorts of different objects, including cars, blocks, people, animals, or whatever else is in the center.
